The Origin Story
Built by Passion, Refined by Science
DARREL was conceived and designed by Gaz — a dedicated football analytics enthusiast with a deep belief that statistical modelling, done properly, could consistently outperform casual punters, and even rival professional tipsters.
Rather than relying on gut feel or simple form guides, Gaz set out to build something rigorous: a model grounded in proven mathematics, enhanced with custom parameter refinements, and validated against real-world match results before being trusted with a single real prediction.
What started as an idea became over 8 months of constant development, back-testing, and iteration — tweaking parameters, analysing results, and refusing to launch until the numbers proved the model was genuinely Elite-level. The close season of 2026 brought the most ambitious upgrade yet: v7.0, a complete dual-model convergence system.

What Powers DARREL Under the Hood
DARREL v7.0 isn’t built on hunches or hot takes. At its core sit three powerful frameworks running simultaneously — including a brand new independent DC exact score model introduced in the v7.0 close season upgrade.
Poisson Distribution
A proven statistical method that models the probability of a given number of goals being scored in a match, based on historical attack and defence data. The backbone of serious football modelling worldwide.
Dixon & Coles Method
A landmark academic refinement to Poisson modelling, specifically correcting for low-scoring matches (0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1) that basic Poisson tends to misprice. Applied both in DARREL’s core framework and as an independent exact score model in v7.0.
Ratio Model
A custom model developed for high-scoring fixtures — dividing predicted goals between teams based on their relative strength relationship. Applied automatically to Goals Intelligence fixtures where expected goals exceed 3.0.
Convergence System
When DARREL’s Poisson model and the independent DC exact score model independently arrive at the same prediction, that fixture is flagged as a Convergence Pick — the strongest signal DARREL can generate.

DARREL makes its live debut — 69 matches on Saturday 17th January 2026. Result: 59.4% accuracy, firmly within the Elite category. Weekly predictions begin publishing with full transparency.

After backtesting 1,370 matches across 23 Saturdays, DARREL adds Goals Intelligence (Over 1.5 at 87.3%, Over 2.5 at 64.0%) and Auto Compound Bets. BTTS+Win retired after data showed consistent underperformance — subscriber value drives every decision.
